BACKSTORY

Cumulus was born out of a desire for communication and community amongst the peoples of Birmingham. It is a space (a welcoming, nonbiased atmosphere of mutual respect) for the free exchange of ideas and art, that is to say, expression. Creative writing, visual arts, social commentary, philosophical/psychological discussion, community announcements, and anything else which promotes communication and unification on common ground may be included in a given issue. Cumulus is not a rebellion.

The zine exists for people to reach other people. The zine is not a self-aware entity which judges what is and recycles its own in-jokes. Rather, people are Cumulus and without people it would cease to be. Currently, the two brains behind Cumulus are Daniel DeVaughn and Josh LaFayette. They have known each other since birth.
